Due to the increasing digitalization, data and information are generated, both intentionally and unintentionally, which must be processed and combined in a structured way to derive valuable knowledge for the construction process. Additionally, there is an increasing complexity of construction in combination with an increased cost and deadline pressure, which means that the right handling of knowledge is important for the success of the project. Following an exploratory research approach, this thesis aims to capture the potential and possible applications for knowledge management between project members during construction. Based on the essential requirements for networking, transparency, and team building, appropriate methods and tools of knowledge management are selected and combined approaches for solutions in the areas of culture, as well as digital and analog infrastructure are generated. Finally, recommendations for the implementation of knowledge management in the construction of Austrian infrastructure projects are derived from the findings, whereby human contribution is the most important success factor.
